At least 20 buildings collapsed in the Colombian city of Cali following a powerful earthquake, with people trapped under the rubble, according to the mayor.

At least 22 people were killed after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday morning, local authorities said, with the epicenter near San Jose del Palmar. President Abelardo de la Espriella said he was returning to Bogota to coordinate the response, and air operations were suspended at six airports pending damage assessments.
